Social Networking Sites Impact Music Downloads

Today I've found another interesting article on Online Piracy. The title of this article is Social Networks Impact Music Downloads; Piracy Growing. When I saw the title, I was a bit curious on how social networks can impact music download so I read it to find out more. The article is created based on surveys that have been conducted by Entertainment Media Research (EMR) and law firm Olswang. To read the article, kindly click on the article's title above.

The number of people downloading legally has dropped because people can download it online for free through user profiles from social networking sites. According to the results from the article, 39% of the social networking sites users have songs embedded to their profile. By doing so, their friends who viewed their profile might like the songs embedded on it and ending up searching it from the internet to download for free.

I am a social networking site user too and I embed songs to my profiles too. I find it very convenient for me to access my songs when I online from somewhere else. I have friends who are telling me that they think that the songs embedded to my profile is nice and they've already downloaded it. They even give me the link to download it. The songs are available in 320kbits and it's free of charge. No wonder why people are opting for illegal downloads nowadays. It is because they can get the songs in best quality without paying a single cent.

I would suggest to the others who embed songs to their profiles, please do not allowed your users to download it. Using websites such as Imeem can help to prevent illegal download cases because other users will not be able to download the songs.

iPhone facing online piracy too??!!

iPhone,iPod Touch facing online piracy too?? For others, they will start scratching their hair, why just a iphone also can facing such problem. For people who are using it, they might get a little bit of sense of what i'm saying. iPhone launch since 2007 July. There is a lot of people crazy with this phone. Both of it need to keep updating the version from times to times when the new version is release. Since 2008 July, the latest version release which is 2.0 . It start support all the sensor motion games, 3D graphic, and etc. But, if you really want to play this games, you have to download from App Store application which built in with 2.0 firmware. Every games have different prices. For the pricing they set up, each games usually is from US0.99 onward, the most expensive application is US999. But, there is some cracker, they crack all the games, and come out with the instruction of how to crack the iPhone, so that iPhone user can get it free. Although it not a famous case of online piracy. But, if getting more and more people using iPhone, i think, it might becomes a very big issue for everyone. I find out some guys they selling 300 iPhone games/application with only Rm300. Which means, each games for Rm1, and if average the games is USD0.99, and 300 application/games is around Rm1k, people save up another 700?? That the reason, why even iPhone also can facing such problem.

Online Piracy Plagued Media World

Online Piracy has plagued music industry as well as other industries for quite numbers of years already. Webpage or forums at the internet or even the shop can be seen providing and selling pirated products openly. To them, what they are doing is just a way for them to earn lots of money in the easy way. They have no idea or they just choose to ignore how big the effect of the plagued has affected the media industry.

Recently in this few years the governments from all over the world have taken measures in flushing out the piracy. Unfortunately the clean flushing still on the far way to go due to the massive users in the internet.

Online Piracy hits the Game Industry too

When online piracy is mentioned, most of us will think that only the music and movie industry are affected by it but actually there are more and one of it includes the game industry. Although gaming is a popular hobby now especially for teenagers all around the world but somehow, games studios are closing down. How can this happen you ask? The only reason is because of piracy.
While searching for information on this issue, I've found an article which is very well researched to show the impact of piracy on the game industry.

"If there's a single topic that's guaranteed to cause heated debate among PC gamers today, it's piracy and the impact it's having on the PC gaming industry. Almost every gamer you speak to has a strong opinion on this topic, ranging from full support for piracy to total condemnation of it..."more

The article consist of everything you need to know about the relation between online piracy and game industry. Not only this article, there are other people who are having problem with this issue too and sound out their dissatisfaction on it.

"Spore was without doubt the most anticipated game of the year. The game itself has blown away the people who have played it, but the DRM encouraged thousands to get their copy illegally. Already Spore has been downloaded more than 500,000 times on BitTorrent, and this number is increasing rapidly." <more>

URL: http://torrentfreak.com/spore-most-pirated-game-ever-thanks-to-drm-080913/

The second article is about the most anticipated game, Spore. Someone leaked it on Torrent resulting the game to be downloaded and played by more than 500,000 people around the world. Imagine how much the company that produced the game had lost because of this. Usually as a user, we will not care about all this but imagine some day in future, you've put in a lot of effort and hard work to come with a game which is supposed to be the hit of the year and few months before the game was launched, your game is already available for download online and free of charge. All your hard work and effort is paid with nothing.

I am a gamer myself and I know developing a game is not an easy task, what more a good game. I do not download the games from internet illegally like most people do. I hope that other gamers out there will take my heed too. Stop downloading it illegally online or else one day, they might just stop producing quality games for us.

what cause online piracy??

Online piracy is harmless? For creator, they will said no!! For others, they will said Yes!! obviously is harmless!! Why for creator it will said no? because, they cant get any money if online piracy happen. User just download, download and distribute to their friend, share with friends. For others, yea!! download, listen, free!! high quality!! download the entire album just need 30 minute, but if i drive to any Shopping mall to get it cost me RM49, and i need take 30 minute time to travel, it waste my petrol!! actually creator should lower down the price so that all of the teenager can afford to buy. Secondly, i think all the music industry should work like what Apple iTunes doing. You can listen the chorus part of the music, and only decide whether buy or not buy. It not require you to buy the whole album, but u can choose only a song or which of your favorite song. If music industry, film industry do this, i think most of the consumer will spent their money to buy. Because sometime is not worthy just because of a song and consumer spent the money to get the whole album. Therefore, creator and music industry should considered to let consumer choose which album to get.

Environmental Factor?

Do you agree with me? Yes? No?

Petrol price increment few months ago resulted almost all the product prices to increase as high as possible. Few months later the petrol price drop back to normal, but do the product prices drop as well? The answer is NO!!!..now the FMCG, entertainment and almost all routine products price still as high as the Fraser Hill compare to price in few months ago.

Monopolists of the routine product are getting richer with the price increment but not the citizen. Monthly income that never increase but the price still expensive after those period, how do citizen survive with such price increment? The increased of the product price, people intend to try to buy a product for lower price, so, the online piracy and pirated products are getting popular.

Anti-Piracy organization often held anti campaign to urge the citizen for not support the piracy. Why don't they fix the tax system, salary system, product price system instead of standing at air-con hall to urging people to stand away from piracy.

With the economic crisis now, people tend to support more on piracy. Low monthly income, high demand of the price in FMCG, entertainment makes people cant afford to buy the genuine products.

Solve the basic factor of the piracy so the piracy issue will slowly decrease too.

Somebody do something

Online piracy is something that is considered as a serious matter in most countries and people from all stages are doing something to stop online piracy such especially in the US. There will be celebrities using their "celeb power" to persuade their fans all around the world to go for original. Producers and big organizations will try and come up with some ways to stop people from downloading illegally. I found a video by the title of "Online Piracy PSA Parody"on YouTube. It is someone doing something to persuade people to stop downloading online illegally. Have a look :

Wonder when will we Malaysians come up with something like this, or perhaps an anti online piracy campaign?

Teenager addict to online piracy

This few days, i can always heard from my friend they are watching a hong kong drama name "The gem of life". But, all of them are download from a website, in the moment, i know that, online piracy is getting serious and serious. New album of Jay Chou just release 2 month ago, i still remember, there is a lot of people queue to get the album on the days release, but, i just received a phone call from my friend, they told me, just download from internet, it free, and the music are high quality. Nowadays, 9 out of 10 college student are involve in online piracy. Who we should blame on? We should blame on the album or movie is selling at high price, or we should blame that student want save more money for their pocket money. This is a very subjective question. Hope you all can figure it out and leave your comment here. But, there is still have some people don't have the knowledge of computer, therefore, they are hardly involve in onliine piracy. If you imagine, everyone know computer very well, even the old uncle drinking coffee in the kopitiam know how to use computer, i can very sure, they can get the top rank award to involve in illegal downloading. I think teenager figure this by themselves.

Soul Killer + Sadness Trigger = ONLINE PIRACY

Although online piracies had provided benefits to people in various sectors, but it still illegal because it is other's product and hardworks. Imagine your own work, own creation has been used by others without your permission. Then they use it to earn profits and you ain't gained anything from that, what is your feeling for that? I'm sure you will fed up or angry for that particular incident.

As my experience, I, myself is planning to join a video competition soon, and the preparation for the films are killing me. Although it is an easy task for some of the people for a short movie in just 15-25mins, is that simple for some people? Try yourself and imagine yourself then you will know what difficulties you'll face. Now I know, those people who create a particular films, audio, books, software that contributed almost all their soul and time into a product. Everything in the products has their own blood, their own sweat, their own efforts and their own soul. Do you agree on that?

Last time I was thinking that movie production is not that difficult due to massive manpower joined into the process to make a 1hour 50mins movie. But once i involved in this field, and i realize, it's not the manpower problem, but it is effort and time matter, it is not an easy task. Normally they used 2-5 years for them to produce a fine 2hours movie in Hollywood, Hong Kong and even Bollywood with a lot of money involved. They are professional.

Completed movie or products seems like a satisfaction, a soul, a art, a monetary trigger (which they reserve for that) for owner and creators. We should feel sympathy for them with the popular crime in the internet misuse their products.

Online Piracy is not 100% negative

I've found an interesting article on online piracy just now and I would like to share it with all of you.

Can internet piracy result in more and better movies? "Of course, not!" is probably our stock reaction. By illegally downloading and sharing films, pirates steal the revenue that would otherwise reward and encourage film-makers--or so we are told by lawyers, economists, and lobbyists for Hollywood studios..more (http://www.moreintelligentlife.com/node/719)

Most of the time whenever we see the word online piracy, it is usually associated with all the negative effects BUT for the very first time, I'm actually reading an article that says that online piracy is good.

It is good in a sense that it helped a small Indie film to go BIG on the screens of America. This shows that online piracy can actually play a role to "promote" small movies. Everything has its pros and cons, although online piracy has brought a lot of loss and harm to the entertainment industry but there are people who benefited from it. Could there be a chance that online piracy can actually be something that can benefits everyone if used in the right way? Feel free to leave your comments on what you think about the article and if you agree or not.

The cause of online piracy!!!

WHY ONLINE PIRACY IS SO RAMPANT?? Now as long as we got the computer, we will download some movie, drama, music, software. This is for our entertainment. The main reason is because, it too easily available. Now we can use some client to download whatever thing we want, it very convenience to user, therefore, that is the main reason of the cause of online piracy

Secondly is because, partial file download, for example, human can download only their favourite song instead of purchasing the entire album. Some people they only like one or two song of the entire album, and they force to buy the entire album. So, because now is too easy to get music, therefore, they rather download from the internet, without the permission.

Thirdly, Music, video, and software is easily transferable. We can use some instant messenger to transfer the file to our friend or family, it too easy to share out. If you bring a laptop to starbuck coffee shop, u also can transfer the file to your friend using web client of some instant messenger as well.

Lastly, the last reason of cause online piracy is because it FREE!!! People will choose to save more money instead of spent their money to buy from the shop. This is the few main reason cause of online piracy!!

Help Kids Avoid Online Piracy& Illegal download

Kids! They can be heaven sent or maybe hell spawned in the world of multimedia, knowingly or unknowingly they might download files that are illegal sourced from the Net. As the proverb goes "Prevention is better than Cure" which applies to this case, parents should keep an eye (maybe both eyes!) on what their kids are doing online. These are some of the chilling facts that parents should keep in their mind when kids are surfing the Net.
  • Online piracy is stealing(means the felon will be arrested)
  • According to the US copyright law, a fine of USD 30,000 will be given
  • Unwanted exposure to virus or trojan horses that will compromise information
  • Risky exposure to unwanted spyware which compromise personal information that might lead to identity theft
Once you explained the risk of the piracy to your children, you may still want to keep an eye on what they did with the computer like,
  • Keep the computer in living room, and set a time for your kid to use the computer, and make sure they understand what they can do, and what they can't do.
  • Use some web service can allow you to keep track of your child online activities.
Window vista/xp allow you to create multiple account in a computer. Everyone can log in separately. As a parent, they should hold the administration account. Which allow full control the computer , and give children a limited User account.

Show your children how to download legally. There are many website, that your kid can download free, or for a low price. For example, itunes offer each song for USD 0.99 only.
